
A company called Accel Telecom has launched what it calls
the first standalone connected car smartphone called the Voyager. The Voyager
is designed to be easily installed in any car and uses an existing phone number
via a twin-SIM. The Voyager device givesdrivers a safer and superior connected
car experience according to the manufacturer.
The device is based on the Android operating system and uses a HSUPA
QUALCOMM module and has dedicated Waze launcher keys. The device is designed to
allow for hands-free dialing and has dedicated large physical keys. It also
promises high-qualitynoise and echo cancellation for clear
audio quality in the car.
The device can also provide a 3G Wi-Fi hotspot inside the car and is
voice-activated. The device can also connect to the OBD port on the
vehicle using Bluetooth or other connectivity options. Pricing and
availability are unknown.
