Linux users might be please to learn that a GNOME-centric version of Ubuntu 12.10 is expected to ship on October 18th 2012, when Ubuntu 12.10 is officially released. The new GNOME version of Ubuntu 12.10 was unveiled a a few months back by developer Jeremy Bicha, who explained that a GNOME version wouldn’t put an end to Unity.

The GNOME version of Ubuntu 12.10 operating system will include will come supplied with a different set of apps, than the main branch of Unity, and will come supplied with Epiphany and Abiword rather than Firefox and LibreOffice.
Once its officially launched the GNOME version of Ubuntu 12.10 will be a community support version of Ubuntu, similar to other projects such as Kubuntu. For more information jump over to the jumpover to the gnomebuntu.org, website, which is expected to launch very shortly.
