At CES 3M
has been demostrating and showcasing its new 40 point multitouch 84 inch
tabletop display, which sports a resolution of 3840 x 2160, and
uses wired-based sensors, rather than ITO-based sensors.
Unfortunately
the 3M multitouch tabletop is still just a prototype at the moment, and
builds on the technology used in their previous creation the 40 inch
1080p model.
Diego Romeu, business operations manager, 3M Touch Systems explains:
“3M
continues to challenge the size limitations of high-performance
multi-touch technology, and the investments we have made in developing
robust and proprietary PX electronics
platform are enabling us to achieve our innovation goals,”-“Our 84-inch
multi-touch prototype display demonstrates 3M’s ability to scale PCAP electronics and sensor manufacturing to meet the need of our customers for increasingly larger format touch solutions.”
Unfortunately
no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released
as yet by 3M, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you
updated as always.
